Nikki & Thunder
My name is Nikki. My riding team color is orange. Riding horses
is about the only thing I love to do besides being with family and
friends. I also love cats, dogs, and….
Well… all animals. I have one horse named Thunder. He is 3 years old and a sorrel and white
paint gelding with a black mane and tail and two blue eyes (that my grandma
bought me… thanks Granny!) I have only had one other horse before him and that
was Dolly, a flea-bitten Shetland pony.
But we had to sell her due to financial difficulties. I also have a Siamese/Persian cat named
Zorro. He is the same age as Thunder and
also has two blue eyes. I have blue
eyes, too, so we all have blue eyes! How
cool is that? We have lots of other
animals around here, but I will just name mine for now.
I live next to Haley for the past 7 or
8 years now. We keep our horses in the
same pasture (along with her family’s cattle). We aren’t related, but we’re
pretty close friends. Haley is the one that introduced me to this team. And I am glad she did. So, thanks Haley.
I have a part-time job working at
Sac-A-Burger in Kemp. I usually work
around the weekend time. Ever since I
got this job I have had less time to ride, but I still make time.
Last but not least, what I want to do
when I get older. I want to run my own
horse adoption center. I hear about too
many horses being starved, neglected, abused, and all other sorts of things, to
not do something to help them. My two other thoughts about a career would be a
veterinarian or an equine dentist. All I
know is that I want horses involved in my life, and I’d much rather be helping
them than anything.
